Flight 52: Circuits and emergencies - Cessna 172, Cessnock
I practiced circuit emergencies in this session, including flapless and glide approaches. I flew VH-DOL, a Cessna 172.
Full-length video for Flight 52.
Continuing my circuit training at Cessnock, in this flight, I practiced emergencies, including:
- Flapless
- Glide (simulated engine failure) at downwind.
In the Cessna 172, I flew in, flaps can go up to 40°. When approaching the runway at full flap, the plane feels like it wants to stop mid-air because of the amount of drag the flaps add. To counteract that, the attitude has to be set so that the horizon is high up in the windshield, which is disturbing at the beginning.
